America's Got Talent (often abbreviated as AGT) is an American television talent show competition that started on June 21, 2006 on the NBC television network, and is part of the global Got Talent created by Simon Cowell. The program has run for a total of fifteen seasons, and spawned two spin-off competitions: America's Got Talent: The Champions which premiered in January 2019, and upcoming series AGT: Extreme which will premiere midseason of summer 2021, and America's Got Talent: All Stars which will premiere later in the same year. The program is produced by Fremantle (company) and Syco Entertainment, distributed by the former, and broadcast on the NBC television network, premiering on June 21, 2006, after plans for Britain's Got Talent in 2005 were suspended following a dispute within the British broadcaster ITV (TV network); production would later resume in 2007, following the success of the first season.The program attracts a variety of participants, from across the United States and abroad
